The goal of Jericho Kansas, Inc. (JKI) is to educate the public on the impact of catastrophic events.
JKI will normally carry out its purpose by planning and organizing special events, open to the public, on an irregular basis 2-6 times per year.
The specific purpose of this corporation is to study and promote speculative fiction, using Jericho as the method to examine post-apocalyptic speculative fiction themes; specifically as those themes influence and impact the human condition.
Speculative fiction is the literary device which in its general sense uses a hypothetical history, present, or future to explore alternative situations and themes. Apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic refers to catastrophic physical events. Just as the human condition is improved in developing countries when infrastructure is expanded or improved, the reverse can happen due to catastrophe. A large scale catastrophic event impacting infrastructure drastically affects the human condition.
Many post-apocalyptic stories explore the human condition, we use those stories which do to study and prepare for the changes in the human condition in a post-apocalyptic society.
